An arrangement of J. P. Sousa's Washington Post march for brass quintet

All repeats should be taken (it's really not that long without them!) and care should be taken over the dynamics to provide contrast. Also, play this march with a bit of 'pizazz' - imagine you're a full marching band - give the audience some things to latch on to, rather than just a play through of this tune (which they probably already know).

I have been quite rigorous with the way I write the rhythms to provide a crisp sound to this march (i.e. the difference between quaver and a crotchet is important). Linked with this, there are places in the score where I have put a staccato dot and an accent (>), not really implying an accent, but just place where I feel slight emphasis and particular 'crispness' should be.

Hope you enjoy!
