This is number 4 of five Christmas motets. The opening should be done in a sort of whispered Sprechstimme, to give the effect of the shepherds all talking together at once. At measure 8, the shepherds get it together and set off (in a pastoral way) to Bethlehem. Here is the translation of the Latin text: "The shepherds said to one another:'Let us go straight to Bethlehem and see this thing which has happened, which the Lord has caused and made known to us.' So they quickly went and found Mary and Joseph, with the baby lying in the manger. Alleluia!"
The fifth motet is "O Magnum Mysterium".
The mp3 is missing the opening spoken sections. I plan to redo it soon, but decided to share what I have so far. This performance is Circle Singers, in the church where we rehearse regularly.
