This set of variations on the lied "Der Tod und das Mädchen" is actually an orchestration of the complete second movement of Schubert's tragic "Death and the Maiden" string quartet. Arrangement premiered in October 2011 with an Indiana University student orchestra conducted by Nicholas Hersh (this performance on the included mp3).
