This set of variations was written in Febuary / March 1978 specifically for the English Guitar Duo and it was hoped it would be performed in Somerset after a performance in Yorkshire. Partly because of its considerable length and difficulty it was not actually performed in the twentieth century and shorter guitar duets by myself were performed. However it is not necessary to memorise it as by using parts a turnover friendly version can be generated.
