The waltz form, so typically styled in the Viennese waltz tradition is here presented with an outstanding example from Franz Lehar. Instead of a full orchestra, a piano trio brings to life the full sounds and effects when the violin takes the lead while the cello responds with counter-melodies from the orchestral texture, and the piano provides the rhythmic pulsation and vitality, at time sharing the melodic line with both the violin and the cello. A Viennese waltz, adapted to the piano trio format brings the joy of the waltz form to delight audiences everywhere.
