This is a process piece. The piano starts out with the hoedown theme, then all the other instruments come in in turn (except the flute) but offset relative to each other. Once the other instruments are playing the hoedown theme, the flute comes in with a long melody over the top of the hoedown texture. The other instruments successively drop out of the hoedown to play long melodies until all instruments are doing so.
