The story is set in a small Midwest town in 1953 TV at a time when antennas have begun to appear on rooftops. The signal is weak and the picture snowy, but neighbors gather in living rooms to watch together. A local radio station owner, his weatherwoman/puppeteer/fiancé, and a once-famous show business brother-sister act join forces to open a TV station in town. UFO sightings nearby attract the attention of a duo of scam artists who stir up a whirlwind of intrigue.
