The first verse is based on the true story of how my Irish Grandparents met. My Grandmother, a Roscommon girl, apparently saw my Grandfather cycle past and, even though she’d never met him before, calmly informed her friend that he was the man that she would marry. The rest of the lyrics are generally based on fact as well. She died, aged 82, rising from her bed one spring morning.
They are both buried together in Claremorris, County Mayo.
