These are etudes in the genre of the Chopin etudes, although mostly shorter.
I wrote thirteen of them because that is my lucky number. The etudes have been written and dedicated to the Armenian pianist Julietta Vardanyan who premiered my large piano (about 45 minutes) work "32 Variations on Bach", although I have made a revised version to under 30 minutes.
Like the Chopin any number of the etudes can be performed, and equally each etude explores a different technical challenge. Pianist Vardanyan will record (fall of 2015) a solo CD of piano works by Armenian composers, including these etudes.
