The song Yes Jesus Loves Me gives us a strong reminder of how God’s love follows us through our lives. “To Him Belong” takes this simple message as its foundation.
The selection divides into 3 parts, taking us on a journey through from when God calls us to serve him, the struggle we face to accept and sacrifice our lives for him, through to the celebration in finally taking up his call. The music has been written to help us consider these stages, taking the young people’s song from a strong start, into a minor key and ultimately to a more modern and bright swing feel where the band plays their praise and thanks to God.
In the situation this piece was written we had seen how the 3 young people have gone through these steps from the shock of their parents decision, the problems when the enormity of the move sank in, to today when we meet to celebrate with the family this wonderful occasion.
The band piece attempts to deliver a message, that no matter where we are, and where we go in our lives, we will always belong to God and His loves will always follow us.
