Time, Please! About an exhuasted publican trying to close the bar: A finger picking delight designed to help all those hardworking restaurateurs, hoteliers and bar staff who work late into the night serving the last-to-go-home revellers. It is designed to politely tell em it is well past time to go, push them out the door, turn the lights out, and go home.
A catchy sing-along tune suited to harmony vocal and guitar/banjo ensembles. Time, Please! is a nice way to end a set and a happy day. Remember to spare a thought for the staff at your next gigand dont stay too long after closing time.
The song was inspired by late night listening to a tribute album to the great songster Mississippi John Hurt (I didnt want to go home). Its origins are in a gentle country blues style with a dash of blue grass. The simple song structure uses the standard 12-bar blues format.
