This hymn text by William W. Phelps was included in the first LDS (Mormon) hymnbook in 1835. There is no indication of the tune used at that time, although the tune used today is almost identical to a tune called Pickering, included in the 1st ed. of The Wesleyan Harp, published in 1834. My arrangment is based on the three part setting (treble [soprano], tenor, bass) of Pickering from The Wesleyan Harp, to which I have added a simple alto part. As in many tune books of the early 19th century, The Wesleyan Harp assigns the melody to the tenor and a high harmony part to the trebles (sopranos). These have been switched in this arrangement. I hope you enjoy it and would love to hear what you think.
