This septet–scored for 3 Bb trumpets, F horn, 2 trombones, and tuba–is a setting of the hymn tune Judas Maccabeus, which is a derivation of the well-known theme from George Frideric Handel's oratorio of that name. The only hymn text that is commonly heard to this tune is the Easter hymn Thine Be the Glory, so it is most appropriate for Easter Sunday services, but can also be used in secular concerts under the title See, the Conquering Hero Comes.
