The Wax Prince was inspired by the fantasy adventure novel of the same name written by my daughter Anna. It hopefully captures the excitement of the quest as well as the atmosphere of the magical kingdom in which the story is set.
It is intrinsically easy once the "Magnificent 7" rhythm is mastered but it does require a fairly competent horn section. The harp, Vibraphone and celeste parts used in the middle "magical" section can be played on keyboards if required.
The film music style of The Wax Prince would be an ideal addition to any good youth orchestra's programme.
