This is a hymn I played at Easter Gigs, some of the finest Easter Gigs I ever played, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New York City. Arranged by me and expertly adapted by Stewart Schuele for Brass, Timpani and Organ this is the finest setting of this work available. The background about this hymn is this, as near as I can tell: Words: Symphonia Sirenum Selectarum, 1695; trans. Francis Pott (1832-1909), Music: Victory (first three lines adapted from Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, 1525-1594; arranged by William Henry Monk, 1823-1889) Meter: 888 with Alleluia. I don't know what much of this means but it's a reat hymn and this is a very effective setting with great descants in the brass. I have included parts for B-flat and C-trumpet. I hope you play this arrangement. It is very satisfying for all involved.
