It was used in the final scene of the film Waking Ned Devine. Although the work appears to be reasonably easy, it is more difficult than it first appears, requiring careful attention to tuning and stylistic details.
I later scored this piece, along with two other Irish songs, in a much larger orchestral work, Partings, that I arranged for the Divertimento Orchestra in Ottawa. See Partings, Three Irish Songs of Separation for details.
