This arrangement is a transcription of my 2016 recording of the gospel favorite, "The Old Rugged Cross."
Although written as a piano solo or vocal solo with piano accompaniment, this arrangement can also work for congregational singing. This song nearly always appears in hymnals in the key of Bb, which results in multiple high Eb notes in the melody. Many will find the melody in this lower-pitched arrangement, in G with a modulation to Ab for the final verse, much more comfortable to sing. You can include or omit the intro and ending as best meets your needs.
