"The Broken Melody" is an outstanding salon piece in the genre of high-Victorian sentimentality. Originally composed for cello and piano, it is offered here, arranged for five violas. The First Viola [solo] part is mostly unaltered from the cello original (including being at original pitch, to make best use of the viola’s tone).
