These are the original words to this song. The melody was somewhat adapted and then used for what became the American National Anthem,’The Star Spangled Banner’. Melody, bass line and chorus parts are transcribed from the original publication. There are a number of differences between this song and the Star Spangled Banner - particularly certain F naturals in the melody which we are used to hearing as F sharps.
