De Falla’s Suite from the ballet of “Three-Cornered Hat” is the most quintessentially Spanish of all orchestral dances, demanding a full orchestra (plus singer.) Here are two joined movements, entitled Afternoon and Dance of the Miller's Wife (a Fandango), arranged for wind quintet, with a major role played by a cor anglais in place of the oboe. Performing it is not for the faint-hearted, but it is published for those who would like to get a flavour of De Falla’s masterpiece with fewer instruments! Double-tongued may be required in the second movement!
