Tango for piano - in much the same vein (no pun intended) as ¡SaTango!
This is the final revision of a work originally conceived in 2016 as a song for contralto and piano based setting of a tribute (or ponto cantado) to Pomba Gira Cigana. The melodic line flits around between the inner parts while the accompaniment makes occasional use of flamboyant and ritualistic crossing of hands, the end result is piece much more lyrical and flirtatious in style than other tangos written by me.
All metronome marks are meant to be suggestions - the pianist is perfectly free to modify these as she wishes. Likewise dynamic contrasts. Although written out, the trilled passage in b.12 can be extended a little (as into a 12/8 bar) by stretching the right hand trill on each crotchet. Similarly, the triplet inner figure at bar 16 can be rhythmically modified at will, and copied further along.
