This is intended to be a study in syncopation for that
’lumbering beast’ the double bass (I play the bass so I’m allowed to say that!),
or, rather, three of them. The idea came from Adrian Bornet of the Scottish Chamber orchestra
who was for an ensemble piece that he could play with some of his students.
I have made the difficulty rating ’not applicable’ as the three parts
are at very different levels. Part 1 is probably post grade 8, part 2
around grade5/6 and part 3 about grade 4. The notes in parts 2 and 3
aren’t that difficult - it’s keeping the rhythm going!
