There are three distinct episodes (B, C, D), the first of which is a simple melody which is interplayed between various instruments. The second episode is more longing, with a two-horn lead. The third episode is dynamic, with a powerful harp underpinning a minor theme. Throughout, rapid semiquaver octaves passed between instruments keep a sense of continuity to the hectic mood.
