I started my second symphony when I was still a student at the Royal College of Music. I didn’t complete the work until 1968 by which time I was married and had a job as a music teacher. The symphony is in one continuous movement and much of the material derives from the opening bars.
Because the last 9 bars require 72 staves (mostly multiple string divisi) I have omitted the string parts in this score, and mocked up the final bar. Those who wish to see the ending in full can download it from this site without charge as I have made a separate file of it. At the moment Sibelius cannot change the size of staves mid file which is why the ending is separated.
