Just because I think some of the tunes would sound better played alfresco, on a warm summer's evening . . . though if you wanted to perform them in the middle of winter, indoors and with the heating on, who am I to try and stop you?
As in Bach's suites, the prelude is followed by a sequence of tunes that don't necessarily all correspond very closely to the dances referred to in the individual titles.
The prelude is mainly built on two fairly fast tunes. What kind of dances they might to be is anybody's guess. A sudden slamming on of brakes leads to a sarabande, then one of the faster tunes returns at the end.
