Suite Trouveres for guitar, was composed for Allen Krantz in 1985. The five short movements evoke a medieval atmosphere. Canto is an improvisatory-sounding prelude or invocation, Sogno (dream), follows, leading into Burlesque, which is meant to evoke Don Quixote, charging at windmills. Aubade (after the Alba) has to do with lovers parting at dawn, and Toccata is a more rhythmic tude-like piece featuring rasgueado. Mr. Krantz has performed the work a number of times, and James Hontz has performed the piece at the Philadelphia Classical Guitar Society.
