This work, for string quartet and string orchestra, is a contemplation on my weak understanding of particle physics, quantum theory and cosmology. This is merely to explain where the piece goes and why. It is an occasionally uncomfortable battle between the various views, both current and historical, on the elements that make up our Universe. The work therefore has juxtapositions of timbres and tonal/modal harmonies with, by the end, a rather more fragmented soundworld of possibly waves and particles. As usual, please listen to the MP3.
