String Quartet No. 1 was written during the summer and autumn of 1989. It has three movements and represents one of the first extended compositions that I completed. It does suffer from some flaws being that it is a work not yet in a mature style and written as a student, however it has its own charm and I have decided to keep it in my catalog.

This work was never performed in its entirety. The second movement was performed several times under the title "Largo" for string quartet.
