The instrumentation also has free elements for, besides the keyboard or electric piano (although an acoustic piano could be used) and percussion, the remaining three parts can be given by a variety of different instruments. For example, voice 1 can be read by from 3 to 5 treble (melodic) instruments and demands the most improvisation from the players. Voice 2 can be a tuned ’bell-like’ percussion instrument and voice 3 a pair of bass instruments. Music notes are provided along with detailed guidelines as to how the piece should be put together.
The resultant sound should suggest a state of complete stillness and calm.
