This music is dedicated to the memory of Celtic musician Hunter Lee. The four short movements that comprise this work bring to mind music of Vaughan-Williams and Holst. Yet, the music is unique and distinctively flavored with the composer's own musical personality. Movement 1 is upbeat and aggressively filled with pizz and rhythmic and melodic imitation. Movement 2 (Andante) is introspective and longing. Movement 3 is a jig with plenty of independent lines for all the strings. Movement 4 begins with a memorable meloday, joined gradually with three counter-melodies. Layered writing creates an increase in intensity and volume as it moves directly into a reprise of Movement 1. Separate parts are available on request.
