This is an open-formed Jazz composition which came to my mind during my lessons at the University of Mannheim. All of my students in SPK ("Schulpraktisches Klavierspiel" = "Piano Playing for School use") have to learn how to harmonize a major scale (TLH stands for "Tonleiterharmonisation" which means "scale-harmonisation"). Additionally, most of them have their first experience in improvising music during my lessons. I decided to combine those two fields in a single piece: A blues which uses several scale-excerpts (with the appropriate harmonisation) as well as a whole harmonised major scale at the end.
The first performance with my trio (featuring Gernot Kgel on bass and Alex Heinz on drums) will take place on March 9th, 2008 at the small church in Osthofen.
The piece is also part of my debut CD album "From seconds to hours" (please order at Amazon or download at iTunes!). This is where the Mp3 version is taken from. Quality is much better on the original CD, of course.
