Everything passes but, as the refrain keeps repeating, ’I’, the unchanging witness, remains (/remain). Translation:
"1._Under the Mirabeau bridge flows the Seine And our loves Must I remember Joy was always coming after pain
Refrain: Comes the night strikes the hour Days are passing I remain
2._Love goes away like this running water Love goes away How slow is life And how violent is expectation
