You are purchasing high quality sheet music PDF files suitable for printing or viewing on digital devices. This song has a somewhat checquered career, having been written while the text of Yeats' beautiful poem was still in copyright. It has versions for both Tenor and Soprano voice and has undergone several major changes in format and style.
I love the poem so much that I have actually written five different settings.
This is a simple setting for soprano voice and harp. I have tried to give it a 'light touch of the Irish' by making it rather like a folk song. It uses a modal scale that suits the text very well indeed and which is enhanced by using compound time (6/8) for a lilting pulse. The 2nd verse is quicker than the first, but the tempo returns to the original speed for the final verse. The verses are separated by harp solos.
This is suitable for most singers, though it requires singing across the 'break'.
