Domenico Scarlatti (1685-1757), composer and harpsichordist wrote over 500 harpsichord Sonatas for some reason. . . I guess he had alot of time on his hands. That said, either you love them or you hate them. I fell in love with his work because of the brass quintet arrangements that John Iveson (I believe it was John Iveson) of Philip Jones Brass Ensemble fame who made 3 wonderful transcriptions of some of the more famous Sonatas, which are very difficult to play, but I think marvelously effective. I wanted to make my own brass quintet arrangements of all 500 sonatas, but after I did this one I realized that might be a bit ambitious. This might be a good compliment to the PJBE arrangements. . . try it - you'll love it!!
