The second movement of the Sonata for Clarinet. There have been several attempts ata second movement, but none "work": the composer has decided that - for the time being, at any rate - the two should stand alone.
The instruction to hide the bell of the clarinet just inside the piano is meant as an experiment to see if sympathetic resonance can be elicited. Needless to say, by bar 138 the clarinettist should resume normal performance! If it doesn't work with the particular instrument involved, just omit the technique.
