We’ve had a lot of fun at Martlesham Brass with this easy arrangement of ’Sing Hosanna’. We use quite a lot at church services and events like the local scout St George’s day parade and it seems to go down well. I guess it would also be useful to liven up the average school assembly - for those who still have them!
Don’t be fooled by the rather dull staid introduction in this arrangement. I wrote it this way to trick the congregation into thinking that singing the hymn with a brass band is going to be very boring. Hopefully, this idea goes out the window when the band gets to the giocoso, although you are most welcome to miss the intro out if you get to the point where the joke is wearing a bit thin!
I’ve also added a couple of simple descant-like parts (Beginner Bb/Eb) for beginner players to encourage them to join in with the more advanced band members on the second and third verses.
