This beautifull sinfonia originates from the secular cantata no 209 "Non sa che sia dolore" and is hardly ever performed. Probably the sinfonia has once been (1st?)part of a concerto for flute and orchestra, the only one for flute (apart from the no 2 suite - also in b minor) by Bach. This transcription makes the composition accessible for a wider performance which the piece deserves! The piece is in the original b minor key.
