These setting are of early poems of Owen - the famous ones have already been set so memorably by Britten and others is seemd invidious to try - and are essentially about the intensity of youthful experience and perceptions of the world. They all date, as far as I know, from before the War, but the last one depicts the soliders setting off for the front and hints at what is to come. The songs were performed in London and Shrewsbury on the 75th anniversary of Owen's death.
