In the USA this piece is usually called "Carol of the Bells". Schedryck is the name of the Leontovich composition. It orginally was a song for the new year and this arrangement reflects some of that vitality. This arrangement has been thoroughly "road tested" by young school orchestras. I used it with a mixed 7&8th grade orchestra as a challenging concert piece to teach Bb and Eb to inexperienced string players. Others used it as an easy high school concert or chamber piece. I was invited to hear one concert performance at the Holland Hall School and was very honored. It can be effective at a tempo faster than the marked tempo.
