this piece was written with a mix of beginner clarinets and violin players in mind, and can be tackled by any combination of instruments.

It’s written to cover a range of abilities, so that absolute beginners can contribute to a fun piece without losing their way.

For clarinets:

Part one is super-easy, all below the break. Part two is a straightforward tune for players who have worked over the break into the upper register. Part three requires a confident working knowledge of the lower register only.

If you are playing it on clarinets, I would recommend playing it in the transposed key of D - but the tonic key will also do.

The odd title is a very bad pun - the piece originally being written with a Mrs Sceats in mind, it’s "Sceat ’n Dubh" instead of Sgian Dubh": I can only apologise!
