This 4-part fugue is famous because of its incredibly chromatic theme. The legend says that Scarlatti got this musical idea because his cat walked on the harpsichord’s keyboard ! However a closer analysis reveals a very well thought out and structured piece, with a skillful and inventive use of dissonance. Scarlatti was a real genius !
