Having taught in Saddleworth schools for over thirty years, the composer was delighted when asked to write a piece celebrating the area’s distinctive landscape and rich cultural heritage. The suite’s four ’dances’ each reflect upon a particular aspect of Saddleworth life. Commissioned by Roger Tanner and the Saddleworth Festival of Music and the Arts, the first performance of the piece was given by the Northern Chamber Orchestra in June 2015 to critical acclaim. All proceeds from the sale of this score and associated media will go to Alzheimer’s Research UK. The mp3 was created using the Wallander Instruments ’NotePerformer’ plug-in for Sibelius.
