I wrote this piece after I had visited the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in August 2016. As I walked around the city I heard the infectious sounds of the Tango, Bosa Nova and Latin music - coming from the street carnivals, bistros, pubs and the cabaret establishments I visited. When I came home I wrote another Latin piece for orchestra which I called: "Farewell Rio" as a tribute to the friendly people of Rio.
