The slow first movement introduces the various themes which are developed throughout the piece, though most of the material is derived from the opening 7 bars. The second movement places the emphasis on rhythmic patterns whilst seeming to adhere to a traditional sonata form structure. I would like to point out that this is not merely a show off piece for oboe, as both instruments have equal importance throughout.
