This one is pretty guitar-friendly for those who work with a contemporary group or ensemble like I do. And the rhythms are less syncopated than I originally had my choir minister them in 2002. I learned over the years that when you have more than 2 or 3 people sing together, unless the rhythm is pretty straight, the performance is not going to be super-tight consistently. (Not to mention, most congregations at 9 in the morning aren't too quick to catch on to anything too rhythmic.) So I saved the dotted quarters for the verses.

I love this psalm. When people say, "your religion is all about fear, why do you have to fear your God?" I tell them because I respect my Father. As compassionate and loving and forgiving as He is, His severity cannot be messed with. Our Father is, after all, God.

Each of these verses speaks to us guys. Verse 1 totally reminds me of Psalm 1, which is the whole reason I'm not selling cars or something (Psalm 1:3). Verse 2 talks about the beauty of marital and family life. And verse 3 talks about our future as Christians, when God's chosen people finally realize that Jesus is the Messiah they've been waiting for all this time.

As Saint David says, "May He bless you from Zion." I say bring it on, Lord!
