He was the first priest I ever worked for as a liturgical musician, and I learned so much under his tutelage. Many times in his homilies he would refer to the Lord as "Our God." That's always stuck with me. It shows that we're all in this together and that we all, besides being connected as humans, have one God in common as well.
So when it came time to set this one to music, I switched "The Lord" to "Our God". Not only do I like the implications of that phrasing as I said, but also musically it sounded better with that descending scale melody line. So thanks, Fr. Marty!
