The words consist of portions of verses of the hymn, "Rejoice, the Lord is King!" by Charles Wesley in 1744, first appearing in Wesley's Moral and Sacred Poems in 1746.

The first 4 lines track with Wesley's hymn:

"Rejoice in glorious hope! Jesus the Judge shall come, and take his servants up to their eternal home."

The fifth line in found in another verse: "Lift up your heart, lift up your voice;

The final words, Rejoice, he bids his saints rejoice." are anonymous.

They are shown in Wesley's hymn as follows: "We soon shall hear th'archangel's voice; The trump of God shall sound, rejoice!"
