Tarrega wrote this beautiful guitar piece to conjure up the cascading fountains at the Alhambra Palace in Granada, Spain. If desired, the tremolo guitar of the original can be hinted at by adding a quiet mandolin in the right hand. This piece always proves very popular in concert. There is a simpler arrangement available, with single right hand notes and only two sharps, if desired.
