Quirks is a conversation between various psychotic personalities. Through the use of various contrapuntal techniques, each instrument is determined to take over, but no one ever fully succeeds. Throughout the composition, unexpected rhythmic shifts further complicate the endeavor until everyone finally cools down and works together–if only temporarily. Tempers flare, and the flute once again asserts itself. Fearing a soloistic success, the remaining instruments unite against a common foe. But, as all musicians know, flutes never go down without a fight, and that is exactly what next transpires. However four on one is hardly fair, and even the mighty flute must surrender in the end.
