Prelude No. 8 in E-flat Minor from J.S. Bach's Well-tempered Clavier Bk. 1 is a prime example of a florid Sarabande. It is melancholy, yet leans toward "delight." This arrangement is generically scored for harp and piano, but is best suited for a smaller "bard's" harp, and any keyboard capable of sostenuto. The music itself is appropriate for weddings, funerals, and worship services. The instrument pairing offers a unique challenge for stage performers and competitors alike.

This arrangement holds true to the cleanliness of the original keyboard score. Dynamics and performance directions are editorial, and displayed in parentheses. The ornaments are Bach's own, and they are typical for the High Baroque style. It is acceptable for performers to improvise and expound on both the articulations and the melody where appropriate.
